Dissidenti repubblicani accusati di aver gambizzato un uomo a Lurgan

Un ragazzo poco più che ventenne è stato vittima di un attacco in stile paramilitare, lo scorso lunedì notte.
Una banda di uomini ha fatto irruzione nella sua casa in Kilwilkee Road, lo ha aggredito e percosso con una mazza da baseball prima di colpirlo con un colpo di arma da fuoco ad una gamba. La vittima era stata coinvolta in una rissa alcuni giorni prima.
Il ragazzo è stato ricoverato in ospedale, ma le sue condizioni non destano preoccupazioni.

Dissident republicans have been blamed for a punishment-style shooting and baseball bat attack in Lurgan.
On Monday night a gang burst into a house on the Kilwilkee Road and assaulted a man before shooting him in the leg.
The victim, who is in his twenties, was beaten with a baseball bat and is being treated in hospital for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
It is understood he had been involved in a fight a few days before he was targeted.
“This attack was about so called dissident republicans intimidating not only this individual but also intimidating the community,” said Sinn Fein MLA John O’Dowd.
“It was not about serving the community, it was not about protecting the community.
Mr O’Dowd branded the attack “a personal vendettaw”.
“An individual from these so called organisations was involved in a street fight over the weekend.”
“They do not represent anyone. The people of Kilwilkee just want to get on with their lives,” he said.
