E’ stata rimandata la decisione su quale sia la giurisdizione a dover discutere dell’estradizione di Liam Campbell, ovvero se debba essere quella di Dublino o quella di Belfast.
L’ex membro del Real IRA è ricercato in Lituania per un presunto traffico di armi verso l’Irlanda. Un procedimento di estradizione è iniziato 6 mesi fa nella giurisdizione di Dublino e il Belfast Recorders Court ha comunicato che un alto consulente è stato incaricato di spostare il procedimento presso la giurisdizione di Belfast.
Liam Campbell è anche uno dei 5 imputati nella causa civile sulla strage di Omagh, che dovrebbe giungere al termine l’8 giugno con la lettura della sentenza.
Si sta inoltre indagando sul presunto ottenimento da parte dell’ex membro del Real IRA, di un passaporto britannico sotto falso nome.

A decision on whether an extradition hearing for an Omagh bomb suspect should take place in Dublin or Belfast has been delayed.
Liam Campbell, 46, from Dundalk, is being sought in Lithuania over an alleged plot to buy weapons and explosives and ship them to Ireland.
He was arrested last month after crossing the border into County Armagh.
On Monday, Judge Tom Burgess again remanded him in custody while he considers his decision.
Campbell is one of five men defending a multi-million pound civil action brought by some of those bereaved in the 1998 Omagh bomb atrocity in which 29 people were murdered.
Police reportedly rammed his car and arrested him after he crossed the border to drive his wife to work last month.
He was released without charge, but then rearrested on a European arrest warrant, issued in Lithuania.
Extradition proceeding in the Republic have been going on for six months and Belfast Recorders Court was told a senior counsel has been instructed as part of Campbell’s attempts to have the court battle kept in that jurisdiction.
The court also heard that detectives are investigating claims that the alleged Real IRA member had obtained a false British passport.
It is alleged that Campbell applied for the UK travel documents under a false name.
