Gary Devlin, 17 anni, è stato ferito da un colpo di arma da fuoco vicino al luogo in cui venne assassinato il padre Gerard Devlin, ucciso con una pugnalata alla schiena, durante un scontro tra famiglie rivali in Whitecliff Parade nell’area di Ballymurphy .
L’attentato è avvenuto lunedì sera in Whiterock Road, quando 3 uomini mascherati sono scesi dall’auto ed hanno inseguito il ragazzo ferendolo poi alla gamba destra con un colpo di fucile. Trasportato in ospedale, le sue condizioni non sono state giudicate gravi.
Bernadette O’Rawe, zia di Gerard Devlin, esclude che Gary sia stato vittima di un attacco punitivo paramilitare.

The son of a man who was stabbed to death in a street fight in 2006, has been shot close to the scene of his father’s killing.
Gary Devlin, 17, was shot in the leg on the Whiterock Road on Monday evening by three masked men who made off in a car.
The teenager was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Two years ago, his father, Gerard, was stabbed during a street fight between two feuding families in the area.
Bernadette O’Rawe, the aunt of Gerard Devlin, confirmed that Gary had been shot.
“He was at the chip shop with a friend,” she said.
“A car pulled up and three men got out, they had balaclavas on and they chased them. He was shot with a shotgun as he ran away.”
She said that a decision about whether to operate on the teenager had not been taken.
Ms O’Rawe said this was not a paramilitary punishment shooting.
“For anyone to shoot a kid is quite shocking,” she said. “There are too many people carrying guns around here and there are criminal gangs.”
A police spokesman said they were investigating the attack in which a teenager was shot in the right leg.
Gerard Devlin, 39, a father of six, was stabbed in the back in front of his family at Whitecliff Parade in west Belfast in February 2006
Francisco Notarantonio, 21, of Whitecliff Parade, who admitted a charge of manslaughter, was jailed for 11 years at Belfast Crown Court last November.
