Gardai find gun used to kill Wilson in getaway car (The Irish Sun)

THE murder weapon used to execute gangster John Wilson has been found, the Irish Sun can reveal.
Cops discovered the handgun in the dark-coloured Volkswagen Passat used by Wilson’s killers.

The 35-year-old drug thug was shot dead at his home in Ballyfermot, Dublin, after collecting his children from school last Friday.

Two men were involved in the hit on Cloverhill Road, while a third acted as a getaway driver.

Gardai are examining the pistol in a bid to obtain crucial DNA evidence.

A source said: “Everyone in Ballyfermot is talking about the gun being found, so the hit wasn’t that professional. It’s very early days in the investigation but it’s a good result for gardai that the gun has been discovered.

“Wilson was probably killed by his own gang and it’s looking like another row over money that sealed his fate.”

One man was still being quizzed by detectives last night about the shooting.

Wilson had survived three previous attempts on his life.

His psycho hitman brother Eric ‘Lucky’ Wilson, 28, is serving a 23-year sentence in Spain for blasting Daniel Smith, 24, to death in a bar in 2010.

And another brother, Keith, 24, was caged for life last November for the gun killing of Daniel Gaynor, 25, in Finglas.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the shadowy Criminal Action Force last night vowed to take on the Real IRA.

He said: “If the Real IRA thinks we’re going to sit back and let them take money from us they’ve another thing coming.

“John Wilson was a member of our group and he wasn’t afraid to stand up against Alan Ryan’s gang.

“We have the muscle, money and firepower to take on these so-called republicans.”

RIRA has vowed to avenge the shooting death of terror boss Ryan, 32, who was gunned down near his Dublin home last.
