E’ stata aperta una petizione per richiedere a Gordon Brown che venga effettuata un’inchiesta completa in merito all’utilizzo del gas CR a Long Kesh nel 1974. In quell’anno infatti venne utilizzato il gas CR come metodo sperimentale di controllo dei disordini all’interno del carcere. Vennero testati gli effetti dell’esposizione prolungata al gas sui prigionieri repubblicani (maggiormente colpiti), ma ogni richiesta di accesso ai risultati attraverso il Freedom Of Information Act, è stata negata. Il governo inglese nega ogni coinvolgimento. Il fatto inequivocabile è che molti prigionieri esposti al gas CR sono successivamente morti di cancro.

Prisoners from both the republican and loyalist camps were then taken to a portable hospital bus in an attempt to ascertain the probable long term side effects of those exposed (republican) and those not (loyalist)….’
