Louth man challenges extradition to Lithuania (BreakingNews.ie)
A Louth man wanted in Lithuania on terrorism and firearms charges is challenging his extradition in the High Court.
Brendan McGuigan of Omeath is being linked to a Real IRA plot to buy weapons and explosives in Lithuania.
Louth man Michael Campbell is serving 12 years in a Lithuanian jail for his involvement in weapons smuggling for the Real IRA. He was arrested in 2008 after an MI5 sting in which he was filmed test firing weapons.
Authorities in the Baltic State are now seeking to try his brother Liam, from Belfast, and Brendan McGuigan, whose lawyers are in the High Court in Dublin today challenging his extradition.
If surrendered, he will be prosecuted on terrorism and firearms charges.
His lawyers say he will not get a fair trial in Lithuania and that will be exposed to inhumane and degrading prison conditions.
They say Michael Campbell is in a very small cell with no running water, little food and only one hour of fresh air a day.

Solidarietà a tutti gli internati nelle carceri britanniche od internazionali, costretti come 30 anni fa a vivere nelle condizioni più degradanti ed inumane!!
