Four pipe bombs are found in box in Portadown (BBC News Northern Ireland)
Army bomb experts were sent to a field at Carbet Road after the report of a suspicious object at about 10:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Four pipe bombs were found in a box. They were made safe then taken away for further examination.
Police carried out further searches of the area, however nothing more was found.
PSNI Chief Inspector Anthony McNally said: “These devices were left lying in an open area with no thought for who may come across around them.
“We are extremely fortunate that we were able to make them safe before anyone was injured or worse.
“I am asking the community for their assistance in this investigation. Carbet Road is a quiet area and any activity would have been noticeable.
“I am asking anyone who observed any activity in the area to contact detectives at Mahon Road. If you have any other information in relation to this incident please phone us on 0845 600 8000.”
