Il fratello di Gerry Adams si appellerà contro il mandato di estradizione entro poche settimane
Si è tenuta oggi presso l’High Court di Dublino, la prima udienza contro Liam Adams accusato di abusi sessuali nei confronti della figlia Aine Tyrell.
Adams avrebbe dovuto comparire in tribunale in Irlanda del Nord nel novembre 2008 per far fronte a 23 capi di accusa correlati al presunto reato di abuso sessuale, ma non si presentò.
I fatti contestati risalgono al periodo che va da marzo 1977 a marzo 1983.
L’imputato, 54 anni, si era consegnato la scorsa settimana alle forze dell’ordine irlandesi, dopo che era stato emesso un mandato di estradizione nei suoi confronti.
Liam Adams, che si è presentato al processo in completo nero e accompagnato da un’altra sua figlia, ha sostenuto che l’intrusione selvaggia dei media nella vicenda farà sì che egli non possa ottenere un processo equo.
L’udienza è stata aggiornata al 21 aprile prossimo, su richiesta della difesa.

The High Court in Dublin has heard that Liam Adams will lodge an appeal against an extradition warrant “within weeks”.
Mr Adams, the brother of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, is wanted by police in Northern Ireland for allegedly sexually abusing his daughter.
Mr Adams was due to appear in court in Northern Ireland in November 2008 to face 23 charges relating to the alleged abuse, but he failed to show up.
The alleged offences date back from March 1977 to March 1983.
Mr Adams, 54, last week handed himself over to Irish police after a European arrest warrant was served.
His alleged victim, Aine Tyrell, waived her right to anonymity late last year to allege that her father had molested her, claiming that the abuse included rape.
A clean-shaven Mr Adams sat at the back of the courtroom in a dark suit with his other daughter and her husband during the hearing.
Mr Adams’ barrister applied for an adjournment until Wednesday 21 April, when she said points of objection are expected to be lodged.
