DECLAN DUFFY CHIEDE DI ESSERE SPOSTATO DI CELLA

Declan Duffy, ex membro dell’INLA, sta per avviare un’azione legale nel tentativo di essere spostato da una cella di segregazione del carcere di Portlaoise, dove sta scontando una condanna di 4 anni.
Duffy, originario di Armagh, è stato condannato la scorsa settimana di appartenenza all’INLA. Nel corsa di una precedente udienza, l’imputato aveva voltato le spalle al gruppo di appartenenza, chiedendo di essere traferito ad un ala non allineata repubblicana del carcere di Portlaoise.
Come Anthony Gorman, anche Declan Duffy si trova a far fronte ad una richiesta di estradizione nel Regno Unito, per l’attentato ai danni di Michael Newman, sergente del British Army, avvenuto a Derby nel 1992.

Former INLA leader Declan Duffy is to take legal action in a bid to be moved from a segregation cell in Portlaoise Prison where he is serving a four-year sentence.
Duffy, originally from Armagh city, was sentenced at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin last week after pleading guilty to membership of the INLA.
During a previous hearing he turned his back on the group, saying he would ask for a move to the non-aligned republican wing of Portlaoise.
Speaking yesterday a relative confirmed the 35-year-old was pursuing legal action to force the prison service to move him.
Along with Anthony Gorman, Duffy is facing extradition to Britain.
He was arrested while in custody on a European arrest warrant for shooting British army recruiting sergeant Mich- ael Newman in Derby in 1992.
