IL GUARDIAN PREFERISCE DERRY A LONDONDERRY

Errore o correttezza????
Sicuramente la cosa non va proprio giù ai politici. Il Guardian ha infatti pubblicato un libro distribuito gratuitamente con l’edizione quotidiana del sabato, intitolato ‘The Guardian Book of English Language’, in cui si consiglia l’utilizzo di Derry anzichè di Londonderry.
Immediate le reazioni dell’ex sindaco della città, e dell’assessore del DUP Joe Millar. Quest’ultimo ha dichiarato che questo è un motivo di preoccupazione, di aver già sollevato la questione in passato e di volerla portare all’attenzione dei leaders del partito.

Guardian prefers Derry to Londonderry

A former mayor of Derry has hit out at the Guardian newspaper after it produced a book on the correct use of the English language which advised use of the name Derry instead of Londonderry.
DUP Alderman Joe Millar said he was concerned at the advice contained in ‘The Guardian Book of English Language’ which came free with Saturday’s newspaper, may have made a ‘mistake’.
“This is a matter of concern and an issue that we have raised on numerous occasions in the past. It is something we have strong opinions on and I will certainly be bringing this to the attention of my party leader. The correct name of the city is Londonderry so it could be a mistake on their part,” he said.
